Winter 2009 |
Time: Winter |
|
Our two-year snow total is over 300 inches. No, we did not move to Alaska. Their snow is mild by comparison. In 2008 the snow total was 150 inches, which is twice our normal snowfall. No one expected it, but during the end of December 2008, we received 40 inches of snow and it just did not stop. By April the total was 160 inches. There was a block of snow at the base of our driveway. It covered the entire ramp, 30 feet wide, 7 feet deep, and four feet high. Dan tried to attack it with a shovel, but stopped exhausted after making only a tiny dent. Our snowplow, Plowasaurus, came to the rescue. He chewed through the massive block of snow in no time. This past winter Plowasaurus was used more often than ever before. Things did get crazy around town. Because the college kids illegally park on our street, things got crowded. A trash truck had to back up two blocks because it couldn't get through. We couldn't pull out one day because of the snow berms and cars parked. They say this winter will be mild. Then again, they said that about last winter too! |

Our plow, Plowasaurus, got a real workout this past winter. |
What we saw out the kitchen window. That's 40 inches of snow, but it was soft and fluffy. You could walk through it easily. |
Dan had just finished blowing the sidewalk with Plowasaurus, then going back over it again with a shovel. Damn perfectionist. |
